Our registered office is:

Manchester
M40 8WN
United Kingdom
Our privacy contact is [email protected].
We operate educational websites, resources and communities under the HEYS REVIEWS, Ultimate Reading List, Continuity of Control and How to Use a Book names.
This policy covers our activities through:
• Our associated HEYS REVIEWS and How to Use a Book educational communities and services.
WELL READ LTD is the data controller for personal information we collect and use for these activities.
Some third-party services, including payment providers, community platforms and video platforms, also process information for their own purposes under their own legal responsibilities.
This policy explains how we use personal information, why we use it, who may receive it, how long we keep it and how individuals can exercise their rights.
2. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with our services.
Free resources and email communications
We may collect your email address, an optional name, the resources you request, dates of subscription, consent choices, unsubscribe preferences and related records.
Our email service provider may also record email delivery information and engagement information, such as opens and link clicks, depending on the relevant functionality and applicable settings.
Purchases and memberships
We may collect contact details, purchased products or memberships, transaction dates, payment status, payment options, subscription status, transaction references and relevant customer correspondence.
Payment-card details are handled by the relevant payment provider. We do not directly collect or store complete payment-card numbers.
Workshops and communities
We may process membership and profile details, posts, comments, questions, messages, feedback, learning goals, worksheets, submitted assignments and information about workshop participation.
Recordings and public content
We may process images, voices, names, usernames, comments and contributions included in livestreams, interviews, recorded teaching sessions or other educational content.
Website and technical information
Our websites and service providers may process information such as IP addresses, browser and device details, security logs, cookies and other technical information necessary for their operation or used by enabled features.
Information you voluntarily provide
Correspondence, community discussions or assignments may contain additional information that you choose to disclose.
Some discussions may involve personal opinions, beliefs, health or other sensitive matters. We do not ask subscribers to provide this information when requesting free resources, and we do not intentionally use sensitive characteristics to profile people for targeted marketing.
Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information in public forums or messages unless it is necessary and you understand who may be able to access it.
3. Why We Use Information and Our Lawful Bases
Under UK data protection law, we must have an appropriate lawful basis for processing personal information.
We use information for the following purposes.
Delivering requested free educational resources — legitimate interests
We use the email address you provide to deliver resources you have requested, including the Ultimate Reading List and Continuity of Control.
Our legitimate interest is in fulfilling requests for our educational materials through the delivery methods described when you sign up.
We limit this processing to information reasonably necessary for delivery and related administration.
Providing purchased services and memberships — contract
We process information necessary to administer purchases, provide access to workshops and memberships, deliver agreed services and communicate about participation.
Payments and accounting — contract and legal obligations
We use transaction and customer information to administer payments, refunds, subscriptions, bookkeeping and legally required records.
Enquiries, customer support and community management — legitimate interests
We use relevant information to respond to enquiries, provide support, moderate discussions, prevent misuse and maintain reliable educational services.
Optional promotional emails — consent or another applicable lawful basis
Where we rely on consent, we use subscriber information to send the types of promotional emails the subscriber has agreed to receive.
Any other lawful basis used for promotional processing must also satisfy the applicable electronic marketing rules.
Email engagement measurement — legitimate interests, where applicable
Where permitted by law, we may use email delivery and engagement information to understand whether messages are reaching recipients and to improve our communications and educational resources.
Use of tracking technologies is also subject to any applicable requirements under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Public broadcasting and educational recordings — legitimate interests, contract or consent, as appropriate
We process relevant information to produce, publish and administer educational content, interviews, livestreams and recordings.
The applicable lawful basis depends on the circumstances, including the nature of the activity, the individual's participation and any permissions or agreements.
Optional recording or sharing of private contributions — consent where required
We seek appropriate permission where we propose to record or distribute identifiable private participant contributions beyond the purposes already explained to participants.
Security and legal compliance — legitimate interests or legal obligation
We process information where necessary to protect our systems, investigate problems, comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the necessity of the processing and its impact on individuals' rights and reasonable expectations.
4. Free Resources, Email Subscriptions and Marketing
Requesting a free educational resource does not automatically constitute consent to unrelated promotional emails.
Ultimate Reading List
When you request the Ultimate Reading List, we use your email address to send the requested resource.
Continuity of Control
When you request Continuity of Control, we use your email address to deliver the nine-part educational email series and the associated completion message and downloadable resources.
The requested educational sequence ends after its scheduled messages have been delivered.
Optional marketing
Where our signup forms offer a marketing-consent checkbox, that choice is separate from requesting the free resource, optional and unticked by default.
Our optional promotional emails may include book recommendations, research updates, livestream announcements, workshops, memberships and offers.
We use Kit to record and manage subscription and consent preferences.
Where applicable law permits promotional emails on another basis, such as a qualifying existing-customer exception, we must meet the relevant conditions.
We do not treat silence, inactivity or an unticked checkbox as affirmative marketing consent.
Unsubscribing and withdrawing consent
You can withdraw marketing consent or object to direct marketing at any time using the unsubscribe facility in relevant emails or by contacting [email protected].
We will respect valid opt-outs and objections. We may retain limited suppression information to ensure that people who have opted out are not contacted again for the relevant marketing purpose.
A general unsubscribe action may also affect delivery of other emails through the same email platform, depending on its operation.
Your right to object to direct marketing
You have an absolute right to object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing. We will stop processing your information for that purpose when you object.
5. Our Skool Communities
We operate educational communities using Skool, including:
• HEYS REVIEWS, which offers discussions, educational activities, livestream-related content and paid membership options.
• How to Use a Book, which supports workshops and associated educational activities.
When you join, we may receive or access information about your membership, profile, payments, participation and contributions.
Some content is available to community members generally, while other resources may be restricted according to membership or course access.
Community posts and discussions
Information you post in shared areas may be visible to existing and future members.
Leaving a community does not necessarily remove earlier contributions. Requests relating to personal information in community content will be considered under applicable data protection law and the available platform controls.
Private messages
Private Skool messages are processed through Skool's platform.
Skool has confirmed to us that administrators cannot delete individual direct messages or their attachments, and that Skool Support cannot individually delete them on request. Account deletion may have different consequences under Skool's own arrangements.
We therefore do not use Skool direct messages as the designated method for collecting workshop assignments that must be deleted after a defined period.
Workshop assignments
Where private workshop assignments are required, we will explain the approved submission method and retention arrangements before collecting them.
Skool also processes information under its own privacy arrangements. Members should review Skool's privacy information before using the service.
Requesting one of our free lead magnets does not automatically enrol you in either community.
6. Live Sessions and Recordings
We may record selected educational sessions for legitimate teaching, replay and publication purposes.
How to Use a Book workshops
For the currently planned workshop format, we intend to record the teaching portions of Wednesday sessions, primarily capturing the facilitator and teaching materials.
We aim to avoid capturing participants' cameras, voices, names or messages in these teaching recordings. Recording settings will be tested before use.
If participant information is captured unintentionally, we will consider appropriate measures before distributing the recording.
Group discussions and questions
Where identifiable participant contributions are proposed for recording, we will explain the arrangements and seek appropriate permission.
Participation in group discussions will not be conditional on agreeing to optional recording.
Sunday support sessions
Under the currently planned How to Use a Book workshop arrangements, optional Sunday support sessions will not be recorded.
Access to teaching recordings
Restricted workshop recordings may be provided to authorised participants through Skool or another designated service.
Access arrangements are subject to the applicable workshop terms and the continued availability of the resources.
Other activities
HEYS REVIEWS livestreams, interviews and public educational broadcasts have separate publication arrangements, described in the next section.
7. Public Content and Sharing Recordings
Public livestreams and interviews
HEYS REVIEWS produces public livestreams, interviews and other recorded educational content that may be broadcast live, published, replayed or distributed through platforms such as YouTube and other media services.
Invited guests and contributors will be informed of the intended broadcast and publication arrangements before participating.
Identifiable contributions made during a public broadcast may appear in the resulting recording, including names, usernames, voices, images and comments.
Private workshop contributions
Agreement to participate in a private workshop does not automatically authorise the use of identifiable private contributions in unrelated public promotional materials.
Where further permission is required for a proposed use, we will seek it separately.
Testimonials
We will obtain appropriate permission before publicly using identifiable private testimonials or participant contributions where required.
Withdrawal and removal requests
Where processing relies on consent, that consent may be withdrawn.
We will assess withdrawal, erasure and objection requests under applicable law and take appropriate action in relation to material within our control.
Material already broadcast, downloaded, copied or distributed by others may not be fully retrievable.
Teaching materials or recordings that do not contain identifiable participant contributions may be reused for educational purposes.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose concerned or where applicable law requires further retention.
Free-resource subscribers
We retain information reasonably needed to administer resource requests, maintain subscription preferences, record consent and opt-out decisions, and demonstrate relevant processing history.
We review subscriber records at least annually and delete or anonymise information that is no longer needed, where appropriate.
An annual review does not mean every subscriber record is automatically retained for a full additional year or deleted after a fixed period.
Marketing information
Marketing subscription information is retained while there is an appropriate lawful basis for its use. Limited records of consent, withdrawal and objections may be retained where necessary to demonstrate compliance or maintain suppression lists.
Private workshop assignments
For the planned How to Use a Book workshop, the intended retention period for private spoken assignments is no longer than six weeks after the relevant workshop concludes.
An appropriate submission method supporting that retention period will be established before assignments are collected.
Information may be retained longer where reasonably necessary for an unresolved complaint, contractual claim or legal obligation.
Workshop teaching recordings
These may be retained while the relevant educational resources continue to be hosted and made available, subject to applicable rights and obligations.
Public recordings
Public livestreams, interviews and educational recordings may remain available for extended periods. Requests relating to identifiable information are assessed under applicable law.
Community content
Posts and discussions may remain available while the relevant community operates, including after membership ends, subject to platform capabilities and applicable legal rights.
Financial and accounting records
Relevant financial records are generally retained for six years from the end of the company financial year to which they relate, or longer where required by law or applicable circumstances.
Enquiries and administrative information
Other records are retained for the period reasonably necessary to provide support, resolve issues, handle complaints, administer services or comply with legal requirements.
Deletion from systems controlled by WELL READ LTD does not necessarily mean immediate deletion from third-party backups or copies held independently by other organisations.
9. Who Receives Your Information
